Hidilyn Diaz to receive a gold Medal of Valor award from PSC
Olympic gold medalist and Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz was set to receive a gold Medal of Valor award from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
In a statement, the Philippine Sports Commission said that it will be awarding Diaz a gold Medal of Valor award for her historic achievement.
The said medal was given to athletes who won a gold medal in the Olympic Games. It was included as part of the PHP 10-million reward provided by the Philippine government, based on Republic Act 10699 or “National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act”.
According to the Philippine Sports Commission, it looked to give the said medal in a courtesy call at the Malacañang Palace.

Diaz made history after winning the Philippines’ first-ever gold medal at the Olympics. She ruled the women’s -55 kg category after lifting 127kg in the clean and jerk to set an Olympic record.
Meanwhile, the Senate adopted two resolutions seeking the erection of a public marker and the creation of a commemorative stamp to honor the country’s first Olympic gold medal.
