McGregor apparently broke his left tibia and fibula bones.

The UFC fighter said in a message on social media that he expects to be on crutches for six weeks.

McGregor’s agent Audie Attar said: “Conor is in recovery after 3 hours of surgery.”

“The surgery was successful repairing fractures of his tibia and fibula,” he added.

He stressed that the doctors were “confident that with time he will make a full recovery. We anticipate his return to the octagon.”

On Saturday (US Time), Poirier defeated Conor McGregor in their trilogy fight via TKO after the latter snapped his left leg in the first seconds of the first round.

The officials then ruled doctor’s stoppage. It was the second time Poirier had beaten Conor McGregor in six months.

Meanwhile, Promoter Dana White said that he hopes there is a fourth Poirier-McGregor fight.
