Here’s what happened to Jinky Oda after leaving showbiz
Former comedienne Jinky Oda has been living in the US for four years already and is now working as a security personnel in San Francisco, California.
Jinky, or Jacque Oda in real life, was known as Bale in the fantasy TV series Okay Ka, Fairy Ko (1989-1997).
Jinky Oda said that Valentina was supposed to be her name in the series but lead star Vic Sotto, who played Enteng Kabisote, allegedly changed it.
“Sabi ni Vic Sotto ‘Naku, pa-Vale-Valentina ka pa, Bale lang naman ang pangalanan mo,’ so that’s how it started,” she said.
Jinky shared her life story on LJ Moreno and Rufa Mae Quinto’s YouTube channel The WANDER Mamas.
The three met in Castro, San Francisco, California recently.
Jinky Oda recounted that she first became a caregiver during her first year in San Francisco, and someone helped her get into the security agency.
The former comedian admitted that she was culture-shocked during her first year in the US.
She later realized to be independent in everything she does there.
She worked as a caregiver with the help of her sibling there but one day, a local approached her.
“Biglang lumapit, nagpakilala. To make the long story short, siya nagpasok sa akin sa security [office] field,” she said.
