Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque admitted he is considering whether he will run in 2022.
It can be recalled that in 2019, Roque was supposed to run for senator, but due to his health, he withdrew.
“Well patuloy pa rin po ang pagdadasal ko dahil nung 2019 nga po nagplano ako na mag-senador. Ako naman po ay nagkasakit at grabe po talaga yung impact sa akin ng disappointment na hindi ako nakatakbo,” he said.
But according to Roque, it will be difficult for him to raise funds if he runs in 2022.
“I will say, gustuhin man po natin dahil meron tayong unfinished agenda noong tayo po’y naging congressman ng 17th Congress, ang tanong po natin yung pondo kasi sa panahon ng COVID, napakahirap po talaga mag-raise ng pondo at kinakailangan ng napakalaking halaga para makatakbo at manalo sa Senado,” said President Rodrigo Duterte’s spokesperson.
Harry Roque is a former law professor serving as the presidential spokesperson of President Rodrigo Duterte.
He first served as Duterte’s Presidential Spokesperson from 2017 to 2018 and was reappointed in April 2020.
He previously served as the Party-list Representative of KABAYAN from 2016 to 2017.
He was requested by President Rodrigo Duterte to be his presidential spokesperson, and on October 27, 2017, Roque was officially appointed, replacing Ernesto Abella.
On November 22, 2017, he was designated presidential adviser for human rights concurrent with being the presidential spokesperson.
Roque is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL) and was president of AsianSIL from 2018 to 2019.
