TESDA encouraged LGUs to hire the agency’s contact tracing graduates.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) encouraged local government units (LGUs) to hire the agency’s contact tracing graduates.
TESDA had appealed to local government units to hire the agency’s contact tracing graduates for their respective barangays in order to help prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 in the Philippines.
In a statement on Tuesday, TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said that the agency was appealing to all local chief executives nationwide to hire contact tracers who had been trained under the agency’s contact tracing training program.
Data from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority showed that a total of 3,621 scholars nationwide have so far graduated from the agency’s Contact Tracing Training Program (CTTP) but only 594 were hired by local government units while 540 of them were hired by different sectors.

Also, Lapeña renewed his call to all TESDA Training Institutions (TTIs) to register Contact Tracing Training Program, Barangay Health Services, and other Health Care-related programs.
“After a year, the COVID-19 cases in the country have not yet been contained, and with the spread of the new variants, the number of cases surged,” Lapeña said.
TESDA said that 78 TESDA Training Institutions have registered healthcare-related qualifications while 118 have registered Contact Tracing Training Program as of April 2021.
