Digos City Mayor Josef Fortich Cagas has been isolated and is recovering after testing positive for coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
According to a statement from the Digos city government, the mayor tested positive for the dreaded disease when his swab test result came out on Thursday.
The city government has called on those who have met with the mayor since March 17, 2021 to contact them for health assessment and assistance such as free swab test and use of isolation unit.
The local government also called for unity in praying for Cagas’ speedy recovery.
As of posting, there are 771 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Digos City.
Meanwhile, with the rapid increase of coronavirus disease 2019 cases, leaders of different nations are doing their all in order to combat the spread of the deadly virus which started in Wuhan, China in 2019.
COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.
Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, wearing masks especially in public places, and using disinfectant from time to time if possible.
