South Korean pop girl group IZ*ONE would disband in April 2021, according to a report.
South Korean pop girl group IZ*ONE would disband in April 2021 after being active for two and a half years, according to a report.
In a report on Manila Bulletin, IZ*ONE would be disbanding when their contracts expire in April 2021.
IZ*ONE’s 12 members — composed of Japanese and Korean — were winners of the survival audition show “Produce 48” which ran from June – August 2018.
The group debuted last October 29, 2018, with the album “Color*Iz,” which sold 192,738 album copies by year-end and was eventually certified platinum for selling 250,000 album copies.
Mnet, the television channel that aired “Produce 48,” announced the group’s disbandment ahead of their online concert “One, The Story” that would be held on March 13 and 14.

Mnet said in a statement that Mnet and Swing Entertainment/Off the Record had been listening to and discussing each agency’s opinions for the best activities of the members ahead of the end of the IZ*ONE project, adding that the activities of project group IZ*ONE would end in April “as scheduled”.
“The activities of project group IZONE, which debuted with the album ‘ColorIz’ in 2018 and has grown into a girl group representing Asia that is greatly loved not only in Korea but also around the world, will end in April as scheduled. Mnet and Swing Entertainment/Off the Record thank all the 12 members of IZONE who have shown their best and we will continue to support their growth as an artist in the future so that their fantastic stories they have created can continue,” Mnet said.
Manila Bulletin also reported that IZONE’s three albums sold 1.23 million album copies by end of 2020.
The group’s disbandment followed a similar pattern just like the project groups created under the “Produce 101” television shows.
