Senators teased Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto about his lovelife.
Senators teased Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto as his love life — or the lack of it — had become a topic even inside the Senate halls.
Senators on Monday teased Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto about his lovelife as they adopted a resolution honoring him for being named as one of the international anti-corruption champions.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was present at the Senate plenary hall when the chamber recently approved Senate Bill 660 commending him for his anti-corruption policies and activities in Pasig City.
The said bill was initially co-authored by Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
According to Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, while Mayor Vico was busy serving his constituents, he still shouldn’t forget his private life — especially his love life.
“Honest to goodness public service sometimes can be a deep passion to many servants like us, that we are sometimes too engrossed in it, with our devotion to serve the people, na minsan nakakalimutan natin ang ating private life. Kaya ang payo ko kay Mayor Vico, huwag niyang kalimutan ang private life lalong lalo na ang kaniyang lovelife,” Senator Zubiri said.

Senator Zubiri admitted that he got married at an older age due to his devotion to public service.
He even joked that maybe Mayor Vico wanted to idolize Senator Sherwin Gatchalian whom he described as “ang ating pambansang bachelor ng Senado“, drawing laughter from other senators.
Responding to Senator Zubiri’s advice, Mayor Vico’s uncle Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said that it seemed that there were many suitors for the young mayor.
“He’s got a long way to go. But I understand there are many applicants,” Senate President Sotto said.
Mayor Vico had long evaded questions about his lovelife and even joking back in 2019 that he would impose fines on those who attempted to ask about it.
“Ang magtanong ng, ‘eh ikaw kailan ka ikakasal?’ Magmumulta ng 500 pesos,” Mayor Vico said in a tweet as he officiated a mass wedding in Pasig City last December 2019.
