President Duterte Signs Vaccination Program Act of 2021

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed into law the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021.

According to Senator Bong Go, chairman of the Senate committee on Health, Duterte signed the law on Friday night, February 26, in Malacañang.

The new law aims to facilitate the government’s vaccination program against Covid-19.

The new law also allotted P500 million indemnity fund for patients who will experience adverse effects due to the Covid-19 vaccine.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said: “We are confident that the signing of this landmark piece of legislation would expedite the procurement and administration of vaccines for the protection against Covid-19.”

Meanwhile, China’s Sinovac donation of 600,000 doses of vaccine is expected to arrive in the Philippines on February 28.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) director-general Eric Domingo said that a COVID-19 vaccine may be available in the Philippines in Q1 of 2021.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier told the press that areas with more than 3,000 active cases will be the government’s priority in the COVID-19 vaccination.
