DITO Telecommunity and Globe Telecom officially signed an interconnection deal for mobile calls and SMS.
Globe Telecom on Wednesday said that it officially signed an interconnection deal with the third major telecommunications company DITO Telecommunity.
In a report on ABS-CBN News, Globe Telecom said that it signed an interconnection deal with DITO Telecommunity which would enable subscribers of both telecommunications companies to make domestic mobile calls and send SMS without additional charges.
In a statement, Globe Telecom said that the interconnection deal would commence next month, adding that an interconnection deal for fixed landline space was on the way.
“Globe’s collaboration with DITO Telecommunity is part of our commitment to improve customer services by enhancing connectivity among others. This interconnection also reflects the vibrancy of competition in the telecommunications industry,” Globe Telecom General Counsel Atty. Froilan Castelo said.

Meanwhile, DITO Telecommunity was set to commercially launch on March 8, 2021, according to DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano.
The consortium, composed of China Telecom and Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy, earlier signed an interconnection deal with PLDT Inc. which would serve as the point of interconnection for fixed and wireless subscribers.
According to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), DITO Telecommunity recently passed its first technical audit after breaching its first year commitment in terms of speed and population coverage.
PLDT Inc., Globe Telecom, and DITO Telecommunity earlier agreed to establish a clearing house in order to implement phone number portability.
