Tulfo said that he “risked his life” to have himself vaccinated with the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the public because he applied to be a Philippine distributor.
According to Tulfo, he had applied to be one of the distributors of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines. He also said that President Duterte expressed interest in having himself vaccinated but was advised against doing so in order to avoid controversy.
Meanwhile, the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had yet to approve China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use.
Earlier, President Duterte said that he preferred to take shots from China’s Sinopharm.
On Monday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Duterte had said that his preference was for China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine.
The Food and Drug Administration issued a “compassionate use license” for the PSG to take 10,000 Sinopharm jabs earlier this month.
