Galvez: PH Secures More Than 106M COVID-19 Vaccine Doses, Signs 5 Term Sheets

The Philippines had secured more than 106 million COVID-19 vaccine doses and signed five term sheets, according to Galvez.

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Monday night said that the Philippines had secured 106 to 108 million COVID-19 vaccine doses after he signed five term sheets with vaccine manufacturers.

During a televised briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night. Galvez reported the updates about the Philippine government’s vaccine procurement plans.

Out of seven companies, we have already signed term sheets (with) five and we have already locked the supply of 106 to 108 (million) doses, including po ‘yung sa single dose,” Galvez said.

Also, Galvez said that by the second week of February, they’re trying to come up with the supply agreements with vaccine manufacturers, adding that they’ll also include the two remaining contracts they’re negotiating for.

Aside from the 40 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to arrive from the COVAX Facility, the Philippines hoped to secure a total of 146 to 148 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.

The Philippines was in talks with vaccine manufacturers Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Moderna, Novavax, Janssen, and Gamaleya for a supply for COVID-19 vaccines.

Manila Bulletin reported that the initial shipment of COVID-19 vaccines was expected to arrive late this month.

As per the report, the Philippine government planned to give free vaccinations to 70 million Filipinos.
