Interior Secretary Eduardo Año Will Be On Leave Until End of January 2021, DILG Spokesman Says
DILG spokesman Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said that Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is on leave until the end of January 2021.
On Monday (January 11, 2021), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) spokesman Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya revealed that Año has been advised by his doctors to take a break from stressful activities.
Malaya has been advised by his physicians to slow down from his stressful activities because he is not yet taking a leave since he was hospitalized due to the coronavirus disease last August 2020.
The DILG Secretary reportedly works even during holidays, Sundays, and even at night. The doctors advised him undergo some tests and prioritized his health first before suffering from any health complication.
Año got infected by the coronavirus disease in March 2020 and tested positive again in August 2020.
“Since Secretary Año’s hospitalization from COVID in August 2020, he has not taken a single day of leave; always working even during Sundays, holidays and even at night, His doctors advised him to pace himself, to get plenty of rest, to prioritize his health and to further undergo some tests,” Malaya said.
DILG Undersecretary Bernardo Florece would serve as the officer-in-charge while Año is on leave until the end of January.
