Catanduanes Residents Complain on Increasing Prices of Basic Commodities
Catanduanes residents are already complaining regarding the shortage of food supply and its increasing prices in the market.
The Filipino consumers in Catanduanes are now complaining regarding the increase prices of basic commodities in the market amid the implementation price freeze due to the effects of Typhoon Rolly.
Shoppers Arlene Aguilar and Dante Ogalesco traveled all the way from their hometowns to Virac to buy food supplies. Other towns in Catanduanes does not have enough food supply to sustain the necessities of the citizens.
“Kaunti na lang, mahal na mahal ang bilihin… Sa ano lang sa tatlong araw lang kasi wala naman mapagpilian, ubos na tapos wala namang kuryente, ‘di kami makapag-stock kaya isa-isang araw lang ang binibili namin,” Aguilar said.
The province of Catanduanes is one of areas, which were severely affected by Typhoon Rolly a few weeks ago. Catanduanes has been under the state of calamity due to the series of typhoons that hits the region.
The price of meat reaches P220 per kilo and chicken is at P145 per kilo. Cooking oil is currently at P150 per liter.
