PLDT-SMART focused its network restoration efforts on Catanduanes.
PLDT said in a statement that the company was focusing its network restoration efforts on Catanduanes, the hardest hit by typhoon “Rolly”.
This, as PLDT had started its network restoration efforts in typhoon-hit provinces.
Cathy Yap-Yang, PLDT and Smart First Vice President and Head of Group Corporate Communications, said in an interview on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo that PLDT and Smart were exerting all efforts in order to restore services to Catanduanes which “bore the brunt of Typhoon #RollyPH’s fury”.
In addition, Cathy said that their technical teams were working round-the-clock in order to provide vital communication links to typhoon-hit province.

PLDT noted that services in Northern Samar, Pampanga, Batangas, Albay, Camarines Sur and Norte, Bulacan, Zambales, and Tarlac had been back to normal.
Moreover, PLDT was quick to deploy personnel and resources in typhoon-hit affected areas.
Meanwhile, PLDT’s wireless arm Smart Communications had also started offering internet access, free calls, and charging stations in Camarines Sur and Norte, Sorsogon, and Albay.
Aside from this, PLDT and Smart — together with Alagang Kapatid Foundation — also prepared an initial 5,000 packs for typhoon-affected communities, particularly in the areas of Marinduque and the Bicol region.
PLDT’s statement came after the National Telecommunications Commission had directed the immediate repair and restoration of telecommunication services in typhoon-affected areas.
