The donning of ranks ceremony was attended by senior military officials — including AFP Vice Chief Of Staff Vice Admiral Gaudencio Collado Jr. and Gapay’s family as well.

Gapay was a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Sinagtala” Class of 1986. He replaced Retired General Felimon Santos Jr. as the AFP Chief of Staff last August 3.

The military chief had outlined four areas of priorities under his leadership — including organizational efficiency, operational effectiveness, stakeholders collaboration, and personnel development and well-being.

We remain dedicated to the performance of our mandate. This achievement is a realization of, not only the sacrifices which we have already made, but also of the obligations we have yet to fulfill for our country and its people,” said Gapay.

Gapay also said that he’s hopeful that the Armed Forces of the Philippines would continue working collectively in order to provide a “secure” and “peaceful” environment for every Filipino.
