From Squid Game to “Undin,” Filipino celebrities go all out this Halloween
Halloween is still days away, but Filipino celebrities have already flooded social media with costumes that netizens can’t stop sharing, from Hollywood horror icons to Pinoy folklore and pure comedy.
Olympic champion Carlos Yulo and his partner Chloe San Jose transformed into horror couple Chucky and Tiffany, while Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado turned their family into a full “Little Mermaid” production with their kids, playing King Triton and a glamorous Ursula.
Tim Yap went viral with uncanny prosthetics as Squid Game’s Player 001 and paid tribute to the late horror queen Lilia Cuntapay. Maris Racal channeled the iconic “Undin,” complete with a toilet seat prop.
Barbie Forteza switched from a quirky Mike Wazowski look to a Taylor Swift eras tribute, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach went full nostalgia as Romy from “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” and as Mojo Jojo from “The Powerpuff Girls.”
Singer Yeng Constantino nailed a bedazzled Chappell Roan outfit with structured fringe and a cowboy hat. BINI’s Mikha came as Padmé Amidala from “Star Wars,” while Maloi turned into the button-eyed Coraline.
Some stars leaned on local dark folklore. Kyline Alcantara went all out with a detailed “Mambabarang” (witch doctor) look, echoing Andrea Brillantes’ earlier half-human, half-Manananggal costume.
But for many netizens, the funniest of all was content creator Sassa Gurl, who dressed up as a literal funeral flower stand, a costume that had comment sections in stitches.
With a few days left before October 31, fans are waiting to see which stars will top this year’s list.
