Dennis Padilla Expresses Heartbreak Over Claudia’s Name Change Request
DENNIS PADILLA – The actor-comedian expressed sadness after learning that his daughter, Claudia Barretto, has filed a petition in court to legally change her surname from Baldivia to Barretto. Baldivia is Dennis Padilla’s legal surname and is currently part of the names of his children with former partner Marjorie Barretto, including Claudia, Julia, and Leon.
On Monday, Dennis shared a copy of the court petition on social media, revealing Claudia’s request to officially remove Baldivia from her name. Although the full details of the petition were not visible, the filing showed her intention to use Barretto as her surname moving forward. Dennis accompanied the post with an emotional message, expressing that while he respected his daughter’s decision, he felt deeply saddened by it. Despite his disappointment, he emphasized that his love for Claudia would remain unchanged.
The development comes more than a year after Claudia married Basti Lorenzo. If the court approves the petition, her full legal name would eventually become Claudia Isabelle Barretto Lorenzo.

This is not the first time a child of Dennis Padilla has sought a surname change. In 2014, Claudia’s sister, Julia Barretto, also filed a petition to change her surname from Baldivia to Barretto. At the time, Dennis said he would not stand in the way if the court approved the request and maintained that his love for his daughter would never change.
However, Julia later decided not to pursue the petition. She explained that after having meaningful conversations with her father and improving their relationship, she no longer felt the need to legally change her surname.

The latest petition has once again brought attention to the family’s personal history, highlighting the emotional challenges that can arise from family relationships while also showing a father’s continued love and support despite difficult circumstances.
