Leila de Lima Reaffirms Support for Equality Laws in Pride Month Statement
LEILA DE LIMA – The Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Representative joined the celebration of National Pride Month this June, showing support and solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
In a Facebook post on June 1, 2026, De Lima said that Pride Month is a celebration of courage, identity, and love. She also said it serves as a reminder that the fight for equality is still ongoing, and that many of the rights the community enjoys today were achieved through the efforts of people who spoke up, organized, resisted discrimination, and stayed true to themselves despite unfair treatment and exclusion.
She also stressed her continued support for laws that aim to protect equal rights for all. These include the proposed SOGIESC Bill, which seeks protection based on sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, and sex characteristics, and the Right to Care Act, which aims to improve legal recognition and access to benefits for partners in different types of relationships. She expressed hope that these measures will be passed and properly implemented to strengthen inclusion and fairness in society.

De Lima also gave a message of support to members of the LGBTQIA+ community, saying they are important and that they are not alone in their struggle. She assured them that she and her group stand with them in the continuing fight for equality, dignity, and freedom for everyone, regardless of identity or orientation.
She ended her message by greeting the community for Pride Month and encouraging everyone to keep loving openly, stand with confidence, and continue moving forward together toward a more accepting and fair society.

“Sa lahat ng miyembro ng LGBTQIA+ community: mahalaga kayo. Naririto kami. Kasama ninyo kami sa patuloy na laban para sa pagkakapantay-pantay, dignidad, at kalayaan,” De Lima said. “Again, Happy Pride, everyone! Keep loving, keep standing proud, and keep moving forward together,” she added.
