The moment gained attention online after clips showed Monasterio standing very close to Aldeano and briefly placing his arm around her waist while singing the song Photograph on stage. While the audience cheered during the performance, the video later sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some netizens saying the actor got too close to the beauty queen.
Aldeano later admitted that she felt uncomfortable at that moment, but she chose to remain calm and professional since the event was still ongoing. She continued smiling and maintained her composure on stage because she did not want to interrupt the program and wanted to handle the situation properly.
The beauty queen later gave more explanation in a longer statement online. She clarified that part of her discomfort was connected to the design of her gown. According to her, the dress relied only on its structure for support and did not have extra layers underneath to secure the top. Because of this, she placed her hand on her waist during the performance as a polite and careful way to guide the actor’s hand away while still remaining graceful in front of the audience.
Aldeano also shared that she and Monasterio had already spoken privately after the incident. She said the actor personally reached out to apologize and assured her that he would be more careful and mindful in the future so that a similar situation would not happen again. She made it clear that the matter between them has already been settled and that she has no bad feelings toward him.
The beauty queen also asked the public and the media not to make the situation bigger than it already is. She explained that it was only a brief moment during the event and should not define the pageant or the people involved.
