Christmas Shocker: Family Finds Snake Perched on Star Atop Their Tree
SNAKE – What started as a simple attempt to fix a crooked Christmas star quickly turned into a shocking discovery that left a Bulacan family stunned.
A Christmas morning in Bulacan took an unexpected turn when a family discovered a snake calmly resting on the star ornament atop their Christmas tree, turning a festive decoration into a startling sight.
The unusual discovery was made when the family noticed that the star crowning their Christmas tree appeared oddly crooked. At first, it seemed like a simple decoration mishap. However, as they moved closer to fix it, they realized something was out of place. What they initially thought was part of the décor turned out to be a real snake blending almost perfectly with the tree.

In a report by Kuya Kim on “GMA News’ 24 Oras” last Friday, homeowner Renz Santos recounted how the moment unfolded inside their home.
“Napansin namin na ‘yung Christmas star sa Christmas tree is nakahapay. Nung aayusin na namin, dun na namin napansin na may something dun sa ibabaw nung star, which is a snake pala. ‘Yung Christmas tree is kakulay niya. Maganda ‘yung pattern nung balat niya and shiny siya,” he recalled.
Surprised but cautious, Renz decided not to approach the snake directly. Instead, he took photos and shared them in a Facebook group dedicated to Philippine snakes. Members of the online community later identified the reptile as a paradise flying tree snake, a species known for its ability to glide between trees.
Renz said the group also provided him with important safety reminders.
“Isa sa natutunan ko dun sa group is treat every snake na venomous until ma-ID mo siya. So hindi ko siya hinandle. Gumamit ako ng mahabang stick,” he explained.
Following this advice, the homeowner kept a safe distance and used a long stick to deal with the situation, avoiding any direct contact with the snake. The family was left both amazed and wary by the encounter, especially since it happened inside their own home during the holiday season.
Wildlife experts and authorities often remind the public to exercise caution when encountering snakes, particularly those that have not yet been identified. Using proper tools and avoiding direct handling can help prevent injuries to both humans and animals.
The incident quickly caught the attention of netizens online, serving as both a curious holiday story and a reminder that wildlife can sometimes appear in the most unexpected places, even on top of a Christmas tree.
