Amid the Corruption Issue, DPWH Set To Hire Fresh Graduates To Reform Agency from Within
DPWH – Public Works Chief Vince Dizon announced that they will be conducting a massive recruitment starting January for the agency’s reform.
The bicameral conference committee has concluded. The lawmakers agreed to give a P529-billion budget to the Department of Public Works and Highways for 2026. It is 40% lower compared to the proposed P881-billion budget for the agency in the National Expenditure Program or NEP.

Meanwhile. despite the huge cut, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon assured that the budget of the agency will be used right. According to the Public Works Chief, what is important is that the government will come up with a clean budget for next year and that the funds will be used properly. He claimed that it is fine if the agency’s approved budget for next year is lower.

“Okay lang ‘yun kasi naniniwala ako, naniniwala ang Pangulo, at naniniwala din ang Kongreso na ang importante sa budget ay malinis siya at ma-implement siya ng tama,” Dizon said.
DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon expressed his gratitude to the bicam most especially to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian at Congresswoman Mika Suansing. According to him, a small budget is not wrong as what is wrong is if it will lead to ghost and substandard projects.
“Kahit na bumaba ‘yan 40%, ‘yang budget na iyan ay mapupunta sa mga kababayan natin para sa mga tamang project na makakatulong sa kanila. Gagamitin natin ng tama ang budget na ipinagkaloob sa atin ng Kongreso,” the Public Works Chief said.

DPWH Chief Vince Dizon stressed that the best way to join the reform effort of the agency is to join the agency. He stressed that they need young individuals in the target reform.
“We need young, dynamic, idealistic people to join DPWH and you will be the ones to really turn the page and reform this institution from within,” Dizon expressed.
