Viral Mall Incident: Rowena Guanzon Goes After Netizen Who Posted “Unauthorized” Video
ROWENA GUANZON – Former Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon is taking a firm stand after a video of her heated exchange inside a mall went viral online.
Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Atty. Rowena Guanzon has warned that she intends to file charges against the person who uploaded a viral video showing her in a heated confrontation inside a mall. The video, which circulated widely online, captured Guanzon arguing with a man who allegedly confronted her for coughing without wearing a face mask.
Aside from planning to sue the man she had an altercation with, Guanzon also revealed that she aims to pursue legal action against the netizen who recorded and posted the video. According to her, the act constitutes a violation of her privacy rights. The incident occurred on the evening of December 6.

“Ako naman, pumayag naman ako, i-video nila kasi alam ko na kakalat ‘yong video, na unauthorized. By the way, that video violated my right to privacy. For now, gusto ko lang malaman niya na they committed a crime, and they should delete their post,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
The former commissioner previously posted about the incident on Facebook on December 7, saying she had a spike in blood pressure while inside the mall and needed assistance from medics. The confrontation reportedly began after she coughed once due to an itchy throat, prompting a Chinese national to tell her to leave because she was “contagious.”
“Nagreklamo po talaga ako sa police and filed a case for unjust vexation and grave oral defamation last night,” Guanzon stated.

She recalled being embarrassed after being told: “Don’t you have money to buy a mask?” She emphasized that she only becomes angry when faced with “sukdulan ang injustice.”
Guanzon has filed a complaint at the Makati Central Police Station against the man, whom she identified as “Chiong.” She also claimed the man fled while being read his Miranda Rights with the help of their lawyer.
