During the finale episode of the news program Agenda on December 4, Sanchez appeared surprised to learn—or be reminded—that the veteran action star had secured a seat in the Senate in the recent national and local elections (NLE).
The moment unfolded during a discussion with her co-anchors, Pinky Webb and Williard Cheng, about whether anyone involved in the controversial flood control projects—currently under investigation by the Independent Commission for Infrastructures (ICI)—might face jail time before Christmas. The topic also touched on Lapid’s expression of sadness over the alleged involvement of both former and current colleagues in the controversy.
Pinky Webb pointed out the “kagulat-gulat” reaction of Lapid when he shared his thoughts on the issue.
“Kagulat-gulat din ngayong araw, si Sen. Lito Lapid nagsalita,” she commented.
It was then that Sanchez delivered the remark that sparked surprise among viewers and her fellow anchors:
“Ay nanalo pala siya? Nanalo? Ah… kasama pala si Sen. Lito… congrats, Sen. Lito, hindi ko napapansin, sa totoo lang,” she said, prompting shocked expressions from Webb and Cheng.
