ML Partylist Rep. Leila de Lima Believes Atty. Claire Castro Qualified To Be Next DOJ
CLAIRE CASTRO – The Malacañang press officer Undersecretary reacted to the “SOJ” remarks of Mamamayang Liberal party-list Representative Leila de Lima.
Following the appointment of now-Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as the country’s chief graft buster, the position of the Department of Justice Secretary or SOJ was left vacant. President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has yet to appoint the official successor of Remulla in the position.

Seven (7) names were listed in the shortlist of applicants for Ombudsman submitted by the Judiciary and Bar Council (JBC) to Marcos Jr. Initially, there were 17 applicants for the position that was left vacant following the retirement of former Ombudsman Samuel Martires.

Now-Ombudsman Boying Remulla previously claimed that he informed Pres. Bongbong Marcos about his desire to apply to be the country’s next chief graft-buster. Following his appointment, the justice department was left under the lead of acting Secretary of Justice (SOJ) Fredderick Vida.
Currently, there is still no official announcements as to who will be the next chief of the Department of Justice. Meanwhile, Mamamayang Liberal partylist Rep. Leila de Lima, a former secretary of justice, claimed she already saw the list that allegedly contained the names of the individuals who are considered to be the next SOJ.

De Lima claimed that most of the names cited in the supposed list are allegedly qualified to be the next chief of the Department of Justice. She clarified that it was not an official list and only their names were stated there but some names are familiar to her.
ML partylist Rep. Leila de Lima believes that Malacañang’s press officer undersecretary Claire Castro is qualified to be the next DOJ chief. According to her, Atty. Castro is also a brave lawyer. Recently, the Palace press official was asked about the statement of De Lima.

Based on a post of ABS-CBN News on social media, Atty. Claire Castro is grateful over the good words of former Sen. Leila de Lima who believes she is fit for the SOJ position but clarified that she is not applying for the post. She also gave a message for her bashers.
“Maraming salamat sa pagkokonsidera sa akin pero hindi po talaga tayo nag-a-apply para maging SOJ. So siguro ‘yung mga ayaw sa akin na maging SOJ ako, eh, kalma lang hindi po tayo nag-a-apply para diyan. Maraming-maraming salamat po kay Congressman Leila de Lima for saying those kind words,” Castro said based on the post.
The Palace press officer has defended Marcos Jr. countless times. Recently, Atty. Claire Castro also hit back at Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for saying that she has no best friend with the same mindset as hers.
