ICI Submits Endorsement for Filing of Charges Recommendation against Former Sen. Bong Revilla, Several Others

BONG REVILLA – The former Senator is one of the names mentioned in the latest endorsement of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for the filing of flood control charges.

Several congressmen and some senators were implicated in the flood control mess in the Philippines. A lot of former officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were also tagged of the supposed flood control corruption. Some former senators were also named during the flood control hearings. It triggered the “Trillion Peso March” against corruption.

Both the House of Representatives and the Senate launched flood control investigations. However, after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure was build, the House stopped its flood control investigation. According to House Speaker Bojie Dy, the flood control probe is allegedly best left in the hands of Marcos Jr.’s independent commission.

The ICI was created following the order of President Bongbong Marcos to form an independent commission that will investigate the flood control issue. The Senate continued with its investigation on the flood control mess amid the probe of the independent commission.

During a Senate flood probe, one of the names mentioned was former Sen. Bong Revilla. Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan District Engineer Chief Henry Alcantara accused the former Senator of allegedly receiving payoffs from the supposed budget insertions.

Former Sen. Bong Revilla denied the accusation of former DPWH D.E. Henry Alcantara. According to him, he has nothing to do with the budget insertion issue.

I deny. Wala po akong kinalaman diyan. I have nothing to do with any of that,” Revilla said.

Recently, amid the flood control investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), the independent commission submitted an endorsement for the filing of flood control charges against former Sen. Bong Revilla and several others. Based on a report on Inquirer, the ICI stated the following names

  • J.Y. Dela Rosa
  • “Mrs. Patron”
  • Carlo Aguilar

“Ang posibleng mga kaso ay direct or indirect bribery at corruption of public officials, plunder, and administrative sanctions, amongst others,” Reyes said.

Based on the report, the referral of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure was based on the affidavits and testimonies of former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo who claimed that former Sen. Bong Revilla allegedly asked for a 25% commission from the flood control projects worth P125 million.

Previously, photos of former Sen. Bong Revilla using a walker following the flood control allegations crossed the surface.
