DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla Vows All Those Guilty in Flood Control Mess Will Be Jailed on 2026
JONVIC REMULLA – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Chief reiterated the commitment of the Marcos Jr. administration for accountability amid the flood control mess.
Several government officials were tagged in the flood control mess in the Philippines. These include senators, members of the House of Representatives, as well as several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Amid the issue, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure was created.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of an independent commission that will investigate the flood control issue in the country. The said order led to the formation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or the ICI.

The ICI is a three-member body led by former Justice Secretary Andres Reyes Jr. Its investigation on the supposed multi-billion is currently ongoing. One of the accused in the flood control mess in the country is former House Speaker Martin Romualdez who resigned from the speakership amid the accusations.
Romualdez was tagged by contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya in the alleged “kickback system” over the flood control projects funded by the government. Orly Guteza, a former aide of Zaldy Co who is also accused in the issue, claimed that he was allegedly part of the team that delivered millions of money to the residences of Co and Romualdez.

Marcos Jr. previously claimed that Romualdez and his allies will not be spared from the flood control investigation. The President also recently vowed that he will finish the issue as he was the one who initiated its investigation. Recently, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief Jonvic Remulla reiterated the commitment of the Marcos Jr. administration for accountability over the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla vowed that those who will be found guilty in the supposed flood control corruption in the Philippines will allegedly be jailed on 2026. He stressed that the Marcos Jr. administration allegedly remains firm in cracking down anomalies.

“Makakaasa kayo na ang gobyerno ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ay hindi umaatras sa hamon na ang mali, nagkamali at nagnakaw, lahat sila makukulong nitong 2026,” Remulla said.
Based on the report, Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla was speaking before the local executives at the 29th National Convention of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) held in Manila. He stressed that the Filipinos deserve “honest service” and called on the local executives to give their best to the people.
“Now is the best time to be in local government. No matter what positions you have, we give it our all… Iisa lang ang pananaw natin: pagandahin ang ating bayan, ang ating lalawigan, ang ating bansa,” the DILG Chief said.
Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos issued a warning on those who will help the flood control accused who are faced with arrest warrants.
