Bongbong Marcos Not Considering Resignation as Option even after Sister Imee’s Claims, Palace Says

Malacañang Speaks on Pres. Bongbong Marcos Following Illegal Drug Use Claim of Sen. Imee Marcos

BONGBONG MARCOS – Malacañang said that the President is not considering resignation as an option even after the claims of his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, against him.

The Iglesia ni Cristo or INC recently organized an action protest amid the massive corruption issues in the Philippines. Some senators including presidential sister Sen. Imee Marcos joined and spoke in the said rally. The event was attended by around half a million INC members as per the reports.

At the rally, thousands of INC members personally witnessed Sen. Imee Marcos speaking and accusing Pres. Bongbong Marcos of allegedly using illegal drugs. According to her, it has allegedly been a problem with her brother since they were young. She further claimed that then, he was not her responsibility as their patriarch was still around.

In her speech, Sen. Imee Marcos did not explicitly asked Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign from his position but she did ask him to go home and get some treatment for his alleged engagement to illegal substances. According to her, she can afford that he would no longer be the president but she cannot afford to lose him to illegal drugs. She also assured him that she will be there for him.

The remarks of the Senator gained different reactions from the Filipino people. Malacañang immediately debunked the accusations of Sen. Imee Marcos against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, Marcos Jr. tested negative during a drug testing before the 2022 presidential race. She also claimed that the Senator allegedly wants her brother out for her so-called “Team Itim”.

Amid the calls of some Filipinos for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign and the accusations of his very own sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, Malacañang claimed that resignation from the presidency is not an option for Marcos Jr. Based on a report on GMA News, Atty. Claire Castro stressed that the President continues to work for the country.

“The President is still working and keeps on working for the country so hindi po option sa administrasyon, sa Pangulo ang pagbibitiw,” the Palace official said.

Atty. Claire Castro further claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will face the problems of the country. Based on the report, the Malacañang press official said that those who are talking are simply making a noise. She also stressed that Sen. Imee Marcos allegedly wants to damage the reputation of her brother but she is protecting a Vice President who is tagged in the corruption issues in the country.

“Ang Pangulo ay matapang na haharapin kung anuman ang suliranin ng bansa at silang mga nag-iingay, sila ay ingay lamang,” Castro said.

The Palace official claimed that the move of Sen. Imee Marcos is allegedly a desperate move to damage the reputation of Pres. Bongbong Marcos and protect her allies. She stressed that the Senator allegedly did not make noise about the confidential funds issue. Aside from Malacañang, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson also spoke on the accusation of Sen. Imee Marcos against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
