Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that he allegedly has a copy of the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Senator Bato dela Rosa.

Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte remains detained under the custody of the ICC since March. Following his arrest, Sen. Bato dela Rosa claimed that he is supposedly the next person that the foreign court wants to arrest and investigate over the Duterte drug war.

Recently, Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa. According to the country’s chief graft-buster, the information was allegedly relayed by the acting Secretary of Justice and they will verify it.

On the reported ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa, his camp expressed their trust that the Philippine government will act in accordance with the law. According to the Senator’s lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, they have yet to independently verify the claim of Remulla if there is indeed an arrest warrant issued by the ICC against the Senator.

Recently, Ombudsman Boying Remulla spoke anew on the reported ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa. Based on a report on GMA News, the country’s chief graft-buster claimed that his previous statement was his “scoop” as a journalist.

“I said that as a journalist on my Saturday program. Nai-scoop ko ‘yon, nakita ko,” the Ombudsman said.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla also claimed that he allegedly has a copy of the ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa. Based on the report, according to him, he has an unofficial copy in his phone.

“Kung tatanungin niyo ako kung meron, meron. Sa telepono ko. I have a copy. Pero hindi siya official copy. Basta alam ko, meron,” the country’s chief graft-buster said.

According to Remulla, the mandate to implement the supposed ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Dela Rosa is an “executive function”. He stressed that the document should move through the necessary channels before it can be implemented.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla stressed that the absence of confirmation from the other agencies does not invalidate his claim. According to him, he was able to see the supposed ICC arrest warrant first. Amid the issue, Senate Pres. Tito Sotto spoke on the reported ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa.
