PAGASA Released an Update about Uwan w/c Weakened Into Severe Tropical Storm
UWAN – PAGASA reported that the severe tropical storm may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, November 12.
After typhoon Tino severely-damaged Cebu and Negros, thus, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. apologized to the typhoon victims and vowed to help them recover, another storm entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility or PAR. It was expected to become a super typhoon.

Typhoon Uwan, internationally called Fung Wong, intensified within the PAR and became a super typhoon. At the height of its wrath, signal no. 5 was hoisted in several areas in Luzon. Prior to its entry, Marcos Jr. already declared a national state of calamity as suggested by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).

Currently, Uwan is already outside the PAR. It has weakened into a severe tropical storm. However, according to PAGASA, the severe tropical storm may re-enter the PAR on Wednesday, November 12, and it will cross Taiwan and eventually weaken into a low pressure area.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, although the severe tropical storm is already outside the PAR, wind signals are still up in several areas in the country. Wind signal no. 2 is up in the following:
- Batanes
- western Ilocos Norte

Based on the report, wind signal no. 1 remains up in the following areas:
- Northern and Central Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
- Apayao
- Abra
- Kalinga
- Western Mountain Province
- Northwestern Benguet
- Rest of Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- Northern and central La Union
- Western Pangasinan
Following the wrath of Uwan in several areas in Luzon and Visayas wherein it brought massive rain and strong winds, Pres. Bongbong Marcos is satisfied with the preemptive measures for the calamity. Malacañang press official undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that the Chief Executive sees the good works of the different government agencies.
“Yes, opo, ang mga nangyayari po kasing kalamidad at sakuna, minsan hindi po natin maiiwasan at nangyayari ito na hindi natin ginugusto so ‘yung mga paghahanda po na ipinapakita ng mga agencies na nakakapagsagip ng mga tao mula sa peligro, nakikita po ng Pangulo ang magandang ginagawa ng ating mga ahensya,” the Palace official said.
However, with regards to some local officials, there were rumors that some of them were allegedly out of the country when the typhoons hit their cities and provinces. The Palace spoke on the side of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on the local officials taking a “chill” mode towards their duties to the Filipino people.
