Amid the Flood Control Mess, Ombudsman Remulla Speaks on Offer of Former “QC Congressman”
Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that a former congressman of Quezon City is allegedly ready to “tell all” over the flood control issue.
The flood control issue in the Philippines angered countless Filipinos. Last September 21, thousands of Filipinos joined the “Trillion Peso March” to air their anger towards the supposed massive corruption in the government. Several celebrities in the showbiz industry even joined the protest actions.

Following his appointment to the office of the chief graft-buster, Ombudsman Boying Remulla assured that even the relatives of President Bongbong Marcos will be prosecuted if there is an evidence of flood control corruption. Remulla also vowed that he will try to fast-track the resolution of the case.

Currently, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI is conducting investigations on the flood control mess in the country. The independent commission was formed upon the order of Marcos Jr. It had invited several senators and congressmen who are accused of alleged flood control corruption amid the issue.
Amid the calls of countless Filipinos for an end to corruption, Ombudsman Remulla recently claimed that a former “Quezon City congressman” is allegedly willing to testify on the flood control issue. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, while he did not name who he’s referring to, Remulla claimed that the former lawmaker is a friend of his.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the former QC congressman who is his friend called him early today and the former lawmaker wants to make a “tell all” over the flood control issue. Based on the report, Remulla also claimed that the former Congressman is ready to divulge the scheme.
“Nakatanggap rin ako ng tawag kaninang umaga, very early in the morning, isang kaibigan ko… (dating) congressman from QC who wants to tell all… yung involvement niya sa anong nangyayari at kung paano ang kalakaran,” the Ombudsman said.
According to Remulla, the offer of the former Q.C. Congressman came amid the Ombudsman studying the possible restitution or measures to get back the money lost to corruption. Previously, the Ombudsman required the accused in the flood control issue to return the loot before plea-bargaining. According to him, it may be considered for those who will cooperate with the investigators.

“We are trying to lay down mechanics for restitution. May nagsabi sa akin na may mga congressman daw na gusto daw nilang manahimik at di na nila gagawin uli, mga contractors,” he said.
However, while Marcos Jr. is reportedly satisfied with how the investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure is going, a private citizen recently dragged the name of First Lady Liza Marcos into the alleged flood control scam. The citizen asked the ICI to probe the First Lady.
