BONGBONG MARCOS – The President claimed that the fight against corruption may be ‘hard and sometimes painful’ but it will be worth it.

The flood control mess in the Philippines brought massive doubts in the minds of countless Filipinos over the honestly in the government. Several congressmen and senators were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control scam. Last September 21, thousands of Filipinos joined the “Trillion Peso March” to call for an end to corruption.

Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of an independent body that will investigate the flood control projects amid the issue. His order resulted to the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI. According to Malacañang, the ICI flood control probe is allegedly going well and the President is satisfied with how it goes.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had a change of leadership amid the flood control issue in the Philippines. several senators and congressmen invited by the ICI to the flood control investigation responded to the invitation with their appearance to the hearings.

Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that the Philippine government can still be trusted. Based on a report on PhilStar, in his speech at the awarding of the Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos in Malacañang, the Chief Executive stressed that the outstanding awardees composed of soldiers, teachers, and police officers are proof that the government is still trustworthy.

At the awarding ceremony, 10 awardees were given the Medallion of Excellence, “The Flame” trophy, and P1 million each as Metrobank Foundation’s 10 Outstanding Filipinos for this year. They are the following:

In his speech, Pres. Bongbong Marcos raised a question if the government can still be trusted amid the corruption issues in the country now. According to him, the awardees show the answers.

“To that, I say: Look at these men and women. In their service, you will find your answer. Because of them, we are reminded that hope is never lost, that integrity lives in our institutions, that honor still defines what it means to be a Filipino,” the President said.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that the fight against corruption will not be easy. Meanwhile, he stressed that the government continues to clean ranks to ensure that each official is worthy of the trust of the public.

“Marami pa tayong haharapin, marami pa tayong pagdadaanan. It will be hard and sometimes it will be painful, but it will be worth it because what we are fighting for is a country that our children will inherit [and] a nation that they can be proud of, that they can be proud to say I am Filipino,” Marcos Jr. said.

However, amid the ongoing flood control investigation, First Lady Liza Marcos was recently dragged into the flood control scam.
