Gerald Anderson Ventures Into Movie Production w/ “Rekonek”
GERALD ANDERSON – Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson is taking on a new challenge in his showbiz journey—not as an actor or director, but as a movie producer for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Rekonek.”
From being an actor and director in his primetime series “Sins of the Father,” Gerald Anderson is now exploring a new role in the entertainment industry — that of a movie producer. The Kapamilya actor’s production company, The Th3rd Floor Studios, has partnered with Reality MM Studios to produce the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry titled “Rekonek.”
This marks Anderson’s first foray into film production. While he has previously invested in businesses related to fitness and tourism, this new endeavor signifies his growing passion for creating meaningful stories on screen.

Gerald Anderson shared his motivation for stepping into this new chapter, saying, “Ang pangarap ko po talaga dito ay makapag-produce ng iba’t ibang klaseng proyekto, makapagbigay ng maraming trabaho, makapag-contribute sa cinema ng Pilipinas.“ He added, “And in the future, kahit hindi ako ‘yung bida, makapag-direk ako ng isang pelikula at isang proyekto. Marami pang oportunidad na binibigay sa atin. Ako naman ‘yung taong ayaw sayangin ‘yung pagkakataon.”
“Rekonek” explores the intertwined lives of several characters who experience a global internet outage ten days before Christmas. According to Anderson and Reality MM Studios producer Dondon Monteverde, the film carries a universal theme that audiences from all walks of life can relate to.
As Anderson explained, “May mga tao sa buhay natin na we should reconnect with, may mga hindi. May mga kasama lang sa journey natin, parang passers-by lang.” He further reflected, “There’s also times na you have to grow to become better people and reconnect somewhere in time.”

During the press conference, Anderson was asked if he had “reconnected” with his ex-girlfriend Julia Barretto following rumors of reconciliation after their reported breakup. The actor only smiled and chose not to respond. Monteverde quickly shifted the conversation back to the film, emphasizing its heartfelt message. Anderson then teased, “Basta sa ‘Rekonek’ na pelikula, sasagutin ko.”
Aside from “Rekonek,” Anderson is also set to appear in the highly anticipated sequel of “Buy Bust,” another collaboration with Reality MM Studios — solidifying his growing influence both in front of and behind the camera.
