Pres. Bongbong Marcos Calls on Filipinos To Be Prepared against Natural Disasters in PH
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President gave pieces of advice to the Filipino people amid the Philippines being a calamity-prone country.
Countless residents in Cebu were left in deep shock by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Bogo last September 30. It caused massive destruction in several structures across the province. The said Cebu earthquake was followed by over six thousand aftershocks.

Churches, fastfood chains, and several other infrastructures were damaged by the quake. Many families were also left homeless following the natural calamity. A lot of them are staying in evacuation centers now and rely to government’s aid for the meantime.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos personally visited Bogo, Cebu, the epicenter of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake. He promised to deliver aid to the victims of the quake and he also pledged the building of a tent city as temporary shelters for those who lost their homes to the natural calamity.
A few days after the said earthquake in Cebu, another strong earthquake that was initially recorded at 7.5 magnitude jolted Davao Oriental. On the same day that it hit, just a few hours after, another strong quake jolted the same province. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, they are twin quakes.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also personally visited Davao Oriental following the twin quakes. Undeniably, his visit was much-awaited considering that the province is a bailiwick of the Duterte family.
Recently, through a vlog, Pres. Bongbong Marcos gave pieces of advice to the Filipino people in strengthening disaster-preparedness. He stressed that the Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, thus, the country is prone to natural calamities like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

“Lindol man o pagsasabog ng bulkan, kailangan natin lalo pang paigtingin ang ating disaster preparedness and response,” he said.
Marcos Jr. stressed that each household should plan on where to go in case a natural disaster occurs. According to him, all members of the family including the household helpers must be aware about the plan on where to evacuate or where to meet if a calamity takes place.
“Unang-una, magplano. Magkaroon ng plano at alam ng bawat miyembro ng pamilya kung ano ‘yung plano na ‘yun. Pati na ‘yung mga kasambahay. Saan ang evacuation area? Saan tayo tatakbo? Saan ang meeting place kapag lumindol? Saan ba pupunta? Saan tayo magkikita-kita?” he said.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also advised the Filipinos to prepare a “Go Bag”. According to the Chief Executive, the said Go bag should hold important pieces of stuff like the documents that should not be left behind when the calamity happens. It should also hold basic survival items like water, food, biscuits, emergency hygiene kit, medicines, first aid kit, lighter, flashlight, whistle, and a rugged phone.
Based on the vlog, the President, stressed that the safety of every Filipino family depends on their preparedness. He emphasized that preparedness is so much better than recovering or responding to a calamity.
“Likas sa ating bansa ang mga sakunang ito kung kaya’t kailangan ay likas rin sa atin ang mga paalalang aking nabanggit. ‘Di lang tumutugon sa sakuna, natututo sa bawat aral ng bawat sakuna, mas marunong at mas maagap na ang bagong Pilipino. Mag-iingat po tayong lahat,” Marcos Jr. expressed.
Amid the corruption issue in the Philippines and the accusations that the flood control probe will allegedly lead to the doorsteps of Malacañang, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that he is not hiding anything with regards to the flood control issue.
