Pres. Marcos Jr. Visits Cebu Following 6.9 Magnitude Earthquake

MARCOS JR. – The President vowed to give at least P225 million in aid to Cebu for its recovery following the 6.9 magnitude strong earthquake.

Bogo, Cebu was left by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck last September 30 in a devastating situation. Several buildings, churches, and other infrastructures were severely. Many families also lost their homes to the quake. The strong shaking even caused the doctors, nurses, medical staff, and the patients to leave the hospital buildings for their safety.

As of this writing, at least 72 fatalities were recorded due to the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Bogo, Cebu. Several other provinces in Visayas also felt the tremor. Amid the conduct of search and rescue operations following the quake, Marcos Jr. ordered the government agencies to help the victims of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake as per the Palace. Recently, he also personally visited the province.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos went to Bogo, Cebu where the epicenter of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake was located. He met with the victims of the quake and also check the problems brought by the calamity.

“Malaki ang pinsala lalo na sa infrastructure, kaya kukuha tayo ng malalaking tent na mabilis itayo at doon ilalagay ang mga pamilyang na-displace,” the President wrote in his post.

Marcos Jr. also assured that the government will make sure that there is enough food supply for the earthquake victims as well as power supply where it is needed. He assured the people of Cebu that they will not ran out of food and water.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marcos Jr. pledged at least P225-million aid for the victims of the earthquake in Cebu aside from vowing to build a tent city for the families who lost their homes. According to the President, his office will release P150 million for Cebu province and P75 million for the other towns affected by the quake.

Based on the report, the President also vowed that the authorities will continue to monitor the situations of the earthquake victims. According to him, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have sent engineers who checked and cleared the hospitals. The patients can now return to the hospital buildings.

Several known personalities in other industries also found ways to help the quake victims in Cebu. One of them is actress Kim Chiu who donated construction materials for the victims of the Cebu earthquake.
