Palace Speaks on Order of Marcos Jr. following the Strong Quake in Cebu
MARCOS JR. – The Palace announced that the President has ordered the government agencies to help the victims of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that jolted Cebu.
Several Filipinos were affected by the 6.9 magnitude quake that recently hit Cebu. Based on the bulletin of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs, the epicenter of the strong quake was in Bogo City.

The quake was located at 11.10°North, 124.14°East – 019 km North 70° East of Bogo City with a depth of 005 kilometer. It was tectonic in origin and several areas felt Intensities I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or NDRRMC, at least 26 people were left dead by the said Cebu earthquake.

Aside from the casualties, the NDRRMC also recorded at least 140 injured individuals due to the quake. Following the impact of the quake, Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ordered the government agencies to ensure that the victims of the 6.9 magnitude Cebu earthquake have an access for help.

Based on a post of ABS-CBN News on social media, Malacañang announced the order of Marcos Jr. and confirmed that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) already instructed the agencies to activate their QRF or Quick Response Funds.
“The QRF serves as an emergency standby facility designed to finance urgent relief and recovery initiatives, helping communities return to normalcy after disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons,” Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro said.

Furthermore, based on the post, Castro added that the regional offices of the DBM in Eastern and Central Visayas were already told to coordinate with their regional counterparts from the OCD to determine the requirements where DBM assistance may be extended.
Amid the strong shaking that was not only felt in Cebu but as well as in several parts of Visayas, many hospitals in the province prompted their doctors, nurses, medical staff, and patients to evacuate to a safe area. The hospital staff, nurses, and doctors helped the patients.
