Medical Staff Including Nurses Assist Patients during Evacuation due to the Quake

Nurses and medical staff of Cebu Doctors’ Hospital safely secured the infants from the nursery amid the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the province.

The recent strong earthquake that jolted Cebu and several provinces in the Visayas region brought not just damages to structures but as well as lost of lives. The epicenter of the quake was located in Bogo City as per the bulletin released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs.

According to Phivolcs, the epicenter of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake was located at 11.10°North, 124.14°East – 019 km North 70° East of Bogo City. The quake had a depth of focus of 005 kilometers and was tectonic in origin based on the bulletin. The strong shaking prompted the medical staff, nurses, doctors, and patients in Cebu hospitals to evacuate for their safety.

Amid the strong earthquake in Cebu which resulted to at least 26 deaths already, the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of Cebu Doctors’ Hospital assisted the patients in the evacuation. Based on a post of The Freeman on social media, the nurses and the medical staff safely secured the infants from the nursery of the hospital amid the quake.

Countless salutes were offered to the selfless commitment of the medical staff, nurses, and doctors to their profession and to their patients. Amid the calamity like the recent quake, they did not think twice but immediately helped the patients get to a safer place.

The medical staff, nurses, and doctors of Cebu City Medical Center also assisted their patients amid the evacuation due to the 6.9 magnitude earthquake. A doctor and an OB-GYNE team even helped a pregnant woman who went into labor amid the evacuation gave birth to her baby while on the sidewalk. She was already due and the delivery of the baby was successful amid the challenging situation.

Phivolcs warned that both damages and aftershocks are expected of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that jolted Cebu and caused strong shaking in several areas in the Visayas region. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or NDRRMC has recorded at least 26 deaths and 147 injured individuals due to the calamity.
