MALACAÑANG – The Palace claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not worried over the public protest against corruption in the Philippines.

The flood control issue in the Philippines did not only leave Marcos Jr. disappointed but as well as countless Filipinos across the nation and as well as abroad. The flood control mess involved not just millions but billions of money of the people. Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously exposed that P545-billion was spent by the government on flood control projects under his term.

Amid the huge spending on flood control projects which the President tagged as “enormous”, several areas in the country still frequently experience flooding when heavy rains hit the nation. Several ‘ghost’ and substandard flood control projects funded using government money were discovered.

In Bulacan, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was left not just disappointed but angry by the P55-million ‘ghost’ Riverwall project. The project was mark completed but the President did not find any structure or construction in the area. Based on the receipts, the project has already been paid in full.

The President also found an ‘incomplete and substandard’ flood control project in the same province. He wants the contractors who will be proven guilty of anomalous flood control deals to finish the projects using their money with quality materials.

Amid the flood control mess in the Philippines, several groups and individuals are set to hold a public protest against corruption. The said preparations are known even to Malacañang and to Marcos Jr. himself. Recently, the Palace clarified that the President is not worried over the protest.

Based on a post on News5, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos knows that the protest is against corruption. The Palace official also reiterated the previous statement of the Chief Executive.

“Ang pagprotesta naman ay normal ‘yan. Hindi naman po nangangamba ang Pangulo dahil alam niya na ang pagprotesta ng taumbayan ay tungkol sa paglaban sa korupsyon,” the Malacañang press official said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos, at the press conference over the Independent Commission on Infrastructure or ICI, claimed that he understands the sentiments of the public. According to him, if he is not the president of the country, he might also join the people in the streets.

Several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways and the government are facing accusations amid the issue. According to Marcos Jr., the flood control investigation will not spare anyone even his cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and his allies.
