Davao Vlogger Chito Samontina Commends Brader’s Apology, Encourages Reflection
CHITO SAMONTINA – Dabawenyo content creator Chito Samontina has broken his silence by writing an open letter to fellow vlogger Crist Briand “Brader” Oncoda, following the latter’s public apology to the Muslim community.
Chito Samontina has spoken up regarding the recent controversy involving fellow vlogger Crist Briand Oncoda, more popularly known as “Brader.” On Thursday, September 11, 2025, Samontina posted an open letter on social media following Brader’s public apology to the Muslim community.
Brader came under fire after posting a “Baboy na Halal” remark online, which drew widespread criticism for disrespecting Muslim beliefs. The vlogger issued his apology on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Davao City, directly addressing those who were offended by his statement.

“I sincerely apologize for the post I made, which offended members of the Muslim community. I understand that my words and actions were inappropriate and caused pain, and I take full responsibility,” Brader declared in his statement.
Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, Brader also announced that he would temporarily step back from content creation. “I will refrain from creating and posting any content for a month. I will attend a psychiatric consultation together with my mother in order to better understand myself and my actions,” he explained.

Samontina, while critical of the situation, extended compassion in his open letter. “Tuohan ko ang sinseradad sa imong pag-pangayo og pasaylo… Buot nakong tuohan nga taliwala sa imong mga ginapakita sa social media, usa ka ka maayong tao,” he wrote, expressing belief in Brader’s sincerity and good intentions.
He further encouraged Brader to use his time away from the spotlight to reflect on his choices and come back with a renewed sense of responsibility. Samontina urged him to create content that is “safe for all ages, colors, races, and gender orientations,” emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in digital spaces.
In closing, Samontina commended Brader for owning up to his mistake and embarking on a personal journey toward growth. He congratulated the vlogger for taking the first step toward becoming a “new self,” a move that many hope will serve as a turning point in his online career.
