Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Reacts To “Lifestyle Check” Order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos Among Gov’t Officials

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President agreed to the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for a “lifestyle check” among all government officials.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos was left disappointed and angry by several flood control projects funded by the government. The investigation discovered many “ghost” flood control projects as well as structures that were made with “substandard” materials.

In a press conference, Pres. Bongbong Marcos revealed that the country has already spent P545-billion for the flood control projects since July 2022 to May 2025. He tagged it as an “enormous” amount. He also exposed that 20% of the government’s total spending went to 15 contractors.

Marcos Jr. revealed that 20% of the total P545-billion flood control projects in the Philippines were awarded to 15 contractors. The President also exposed that five (5) of them got flood control deals in almost all regions in the country and the administration will investigate it.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee led by Senator Rodante Marcoleta also opened an investigation in the Senate over the alleged anomalous flood control projects of the government. Marcoleta already warned the contractors to name the public officials that are receiving from them so they won’t be pressed down.

However, several contractors ditched the first Senate flood probe. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero already signed the subpoena to the following contractors ordering them to attend the second Senate flood probe scheduled on September 1:

  • Ms. Cezarah C. Discaya, President of Alpha and Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corporation

  • Ms. Marjorie O. Samidan, authorized managing officer of MG Samidan Construction
  • Mr. Romeo C. Miranda, President of Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp.
  • Ms. Ma. Roma Angeline D. Rimando. President of St. Timothy Construction Corporation
  • Ms. Aderma Angelie D. Alcazar, President/CEO of Sunwest, Inc.
  • Mr. Eumir S. Villanueva, President of Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
  • Mr. Mark Allan V. Arevalo, General Manager of Wawao Builders

According to Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, he will really move for the arrest of the contractors who will skip the next Senate flood probe with an “unacceptable” excuse. Amid the issue, Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered a “lifestyle check” among all the government officials.

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro announced the order of the President. According to the Palace press official, the “lifestyle check” will begin among the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways”.

Following the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for a “lifestyle check” among all the government officials, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about her side on the mandate of the Chief Executive. The Vice President is currently in The Hague, Netherlands where her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte agrees with the “lifestyle check” order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos among all the government officials. The Vice President said that the order should include all the appointed officials and it should be a deep investigation.

“Oo, dapat lang. At hindi lang yung elected public officials ha pati ‘yung mga appointed public officials at hindi lang ‘yung on the surface na sasabihin natin kung ano yung nasa SALN, dapat deep dive,” the Vice President said.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also expressed that the “lifestyle check” should determine the “dummies” serving as fronts of the government officials. Based on the report, several members of the Marcos Cabinet also showed support on the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

“Kung sino ‘yung mga dummy. Ilabas ‘yung mga dummy ng mga public officials,” Duterte said.

As mentioned, the Vice President is in The Hague now and has recently visited her father. In fact, it seemed liked a Duterte family reunion inside the ICC detention facility after all the four (4) children of the former President visited him inside the detention center.
