Malacañang Releases Order on PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III’s Removal from Post
PNP chief Nicolas Torre III is ordered relieved from his position “effective immediately” by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Not only Pres. Bongbong Marcos and the Philippine government earned heavy criticisms over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Philippine National Police chief Nicolas Torre III who was the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or CIDG was also heavily-blamed over the former Chief Executive’s arrest and the transfer of his custody to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Shortly after Torre played significant roles in the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder and leader Apollo Quiboloy and former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Malacañang announced that Nicolas Torre III was appointed by Pres. Bongbong Marcos as the new PNP Chief. His appointment earned different reactions from many people.

According to now-acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, the appointment of Torre as PNP chief is allegedly based on favor and not on merits. He also claimed that he can take down the then-PNP Chief in a fistfight. The Duterte family is vocal over their anger towards Torre for how he treated the former President for the transfer of his custody to the ICC.
Amid the criticisms, then-PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III vowed fair implementation of the law and swift police service under his lead. Pres. Bongbong Marcos also issued a challenge to him to keep the police ranks clean. As the leader of the PNP, Torre also announced that affidavits of arrest will be required for police promotion.

However, recently, countless Filipinos were shocked by the document released by Malacañang. It stated that PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III is relieved from his post “effective immediately”. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the document dated August 26 is signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

There are no further details yet as to the decision of Marcos Jr. to remove Torre from his post as the head of the PNP. The order came three (3) months after he was appointed into the position. Torre has yet to issue a statement as well.
“For the continuous and efficient deliver of public services in the PNP, you are hereby directed to ensure proper turnover of all matters, documents and information relative to your office,” Bersamin stated in the letter.
This is a developing story…
Previously, the people feasted on countless headlines over the “charity boxing match” between then-PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III and acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte. It stemmed from Duterte’s statement that he can take down Torre in a fistfight. He also accused the then-PNP Chief of allegedly being brave just because he is in the position.
For his part, Torre claimed that there was “nothing personal” on him in taking the “challenge” of Duterte. According to him, he just saw it as an opportunity to be able to help the victims of flood and the typhoon in the country. The said match that was set at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum gathered millions of donations for the victims.
Torre was announced as “winner by default” after Duterte did not arrive. The acting Davao Mayor denied challenging the then-PNP Chief. In a press conference prior to the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III reacted to acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte calling him “monkey”.
