LTO Suspends License of Motorcycle Rider Who Danced on Motorcycle
A motorcycle rider who joined the viral “boat dance challenge” by dancing on top of his motorcycle had his license suspended.
Recently, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended his driver’s license for 90 days and ordered him to explain his actions. His irresponsible action has landed in trouble with the authorities.
In the video, the rider can be seen standing and dancing on his motorcycle while stuck in traffic. It was later found that the rider himself uploaded the clip to his social media account. He is a resident of Binondo, Manila.
The LTO said the rider’s stunt was not only dangerous but also a clear violation of traffic safety rules. Aside from suspending his license, the agency also issued a show cause order requiring him to explain in writing why he should not be considered unfit to operate a motor vehicle.
The registered owner of the motorcycle was also included in the order. A hearing has been scheduled on August 20, 2025, where the rider must formally present his explanation. The LTO also directed him to surrender his license before the date of the hearing.
If he fails to attend or submit a written explanation, the case will proceed and may even lead to the permanent revocation of his license.
“Failure to appear and submit the written comment/explanation as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your rights to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand,” the SCO read.
Stunts done for fun or social media clout can put not only the rider but also other road users in danger. Authorities reminded the public to prioritize responsibility and discipline on the road instead of engaging in risky behavior for online attention.
