DOJ CHIEF – Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla claimed that the search for the missing sabungeros in Taal Lake may take up to six (6) months.
Countless people were shocked when a whistleblower crossed the surface and tagged Chinese-Filipino businessman Atong Ang in the case of the missing sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts. According to alyas Totoy, around a hundred sabungeros were allegedly thrown in Taal Lake.

Atong Ang was quick to deny his alleged involvement in the case of the missing sabungeros. According to him, his accuser is allegedly after money. However, another whistleblower, alyas Dondon, also made his claims pinning down the Chinese-Filipino businessman and a former actress.

Former actress Gretchen Barretto was also tagged in the case of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts. DOJ chief Boying Remulla previously confirmed that Barretto is now considered a suspect in the case of the missing sabungeros.

According to alyas Dondon, Gretchen Barretto allegedly agreed to the proposal in dealing with the cheating sabungeros. He also claimed that the former actress is allegedly one of the members of the so-called “alpha group”.
Following the claim that around 100 missing sabungeros were allegedly thrown in Taal Lake, the authorities immediately conducted search retrieval operations. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, five (5) sacks allegedly containing a mixture of different bones were found as per the Philippine Coast Guard.
The search retrieval operations in Taal Lake are ongoing. Recently, DOJ chief Boying Remulla claimed that the search for the missing sabungeros may take up to six (6) months. Based on the report, he stressed that Taal Lake is a huge body of water.
“Mahaba pa ito. Baka anim na buwan pa to maghahanap ng labi sa loob ng lawa kasi maraming namatay dito. Hindi naman biro ang paghahanap natin ng remains ng tao sa isang malaking lawa,” the DOJ Chief said.
According to Remulla, they are trying to organize everything for the presentation of the evidence. He stressed that everything will be marked accordingly if the authorities would retrieve human bones. The kin of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts are also set to give their DNA samples for possible identification of the remains.

On the filing of case against the suspects, DOJ chief Boying Remulla claimed that the Philippine government is close to it already. Based on the report, he claimed that they have enough evidence to file the case.
Previously, Philippine National Police or PNP chief Nicolas Torre III confirmed that human bones were found in Taal Lake.
