Frankie Pangilinan Shines in Her First Film, Says Proud Mom Sharon Cuneta
SHARON CUNETA – Veteran actress and Philippine Megastar Sharon Cuneta is one proud mother as she watched her daughter Frankie Pangilinan make a powerful acting debut in the historical film EdJop.
Sharon Cuneta couldn’t contain her pride as she watched her daughter, Frankie Pangilinan, make her big-screen debut in the film EdJop. The film had a fundraising preview earlier this month, giving Sharon the chance to witness Frankie’s first steps into the world of acting.
Frankie portrays the younger version of Joy Jopson, the wife of the titular character Edgar “EdJop” Jopson, played by Elijah Canlas. The film chronicles the life of Jopson, a well-known activist who was killed in 1982 during the height of Martial Law in the Philippines.
After the screening, Sharon took to Instagram to share a short interview expressing how the film deeply moved her. “I’m a Jodi fan and now, Elijah [as well]. You kinda know what to expect because you know the story, the history. When I came, I sat, and I watched, it still hit me when I didn’t expect it to hit so it has such an effect on me that I cried,” she said.
In her post, Sharon praised not just the lead actors Elijah Canlas and Jodi Sta. Maria, but also her daughter, whom she described as having inherited the family’s acting talent. She proudly mentioned that Frankie is now part of a long line of actresses that include Sharon herself, Helen Gamboa, Ciara Sotto, and KC Concepcion.
Frankie filmed her scenes during breaks from her college studies in New York. Sharon shared, “My Kakie’s @frankiepangilinan first-ever movie which she filmed during vacations from college!!! She did very well in it and I am so so so so proud of her.”
Fans and fellow celebrities flooded Sharon’s post with congratulatory messages, expressing excitement over Frankie’s new venture. Many look forward to seeing the young Pangilinan continue her journey in the film industry.
Aside from Frankie, EdJop features a powerhouse cast including Jodi Sta. Maria, Elijah Canlas, and Cedric Juan.
