Whistleblower Makes Claims vs. Gretchen Barretto in Missing ‘Sabungeros’ Case
GRETCHEN BARRETTO – A whistleblower claimed that the former actress allegedly agreed to the proposal against the cheating sabungeros.
Amid the controversial disappearance of 34 cockfight enthusiasts for a few years now and prominent individuals being accused in the case, Malacañang assured that President Bongbong Marcos will not favor the well-known personalities in the case of the missing sabungeros. According to Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, if there is an accountability that must be faced, a thorough investigation should be conducted.

The issue caught national attention again after alias “Totoy” made claims implicating Chinese-Filipino business giant Charlie Ang or more popularly called as Atong Ang and former actress Gretchen Barretto into the disappearance of the cockfight enthusiasts. It is no secret to the public that e-sabong was a business of Ang and Barretto is believed to be one of his close associates in the said business.

The e-sabong or the online cockfight game had its peak during the pandemic. Atong Ang immediately denied the accusation that he is allegedly involved in the missing sabungeros case. According to him, his accuser is just after some money. Alias “Totoy” claimed that around a hundred bodies of cockfight enthusiasts were thrown at Taal Lake.
Gretchen Barretto also denied her alleged involvement into the case of the missing sabungeros. According to her lawyer, the former actress has not attended a meeting wherein she allegedly agreed to ill plans against the cockfight enthusiasts.
The camp of Barretto also made a similar claim to Ang that the accuser is just after extorting some money from them. The Department of Justice previously confirmed that Barretto is now considered a suspect in the case following the claim of alias “Totoy”.

Based on a report on GMA News, whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan claimed that Gretchen Barretto was allegedly one of those who agreed to dealing with the cheating sabungeros. He stressed that she was always with Atong Ang and she is one of the members of the so-called “alpha” group.
“Alam niyo naman na kasama ni Mr. Atong Ang ‘yan at saka alpha ‘yan. ‘Pag sinabing alpha, kasama sila sa nag-meeting. Kasama siya sa pumayag na walain ‘yung mga sabungero,” alias Dondon said.
According to the whistleblower, Atong Ang told them in a meeting that if they will not do it, their e-sabong business might fail. Based on the report, alias “Dondon” further claimed that it is allegedly impossible that Gretchen Barretto will not support Ang as they are always together.
Patidongan called on Barretto to speak up on the issue. He asked the former actress to help him in the case and have some pity for the missing cockfight enthusiasts.
“Para matapos na ito, madam, tutal, tulungan mo na ako sa kaso ko dito. Maawa ka naman, makunsensya ka naman sa mga nawalang sabungero,” the whistleblower said.
DOJ recently stressed that they will not stop in finding justice for the missing sabungeros. According to Justice Secretary Boying Remulla, 15 PNP officials now are under “restricted duty” for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of the cockfight enthusiasts.
