Derek Ramsay Praises Ex Angelica Panganiban in Candid Interview
DEREK RAMSAY – Actor Derek Ramsay surprised fans when he spoke about Angelica Panganiban during his recent interview on The B Side.
Derek Ramsay made a rare appearance on The B Side, hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, where he opened up about his showbiz journey and the people who helped shape it. The episode, aired on Cinema One, gave fans a glimpse into Derek’s humble beginnings, his challenges, and the iconic roles that made his name in the industry.
During the in-depth interview, Bianca invited Derek to look back on some of the highlights of his career, including his involvement in the 2006 hit drama sequel Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik. Derek played the role of Joaquin Delos Santos, a character that placed him alongside the country’s top stars like John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby, and Anne Curtis.
Bianca asked him about the experience of joining such a major series, saying, “Nakasama ka sa Maging Sino Ka Man, sa Book 2. From that, I remember kasi na kasama dun si Toni [Gonzaga] and there was Vice Ganda. What was that like? Yung being part of the second chapter of such an iconic soap?”
Derek responded honestly, admitting that he felt an immense amount of pressure. “I already felt the pressure, kasi when they announced it, they were honest to tell me na, ‘Hey, it’s more pressure now’ kasi Book 1 was so big. I’m now on stage with other big stars too and I’m just starting my career,” he recalled. “These guys were big names already and I just felt so much pressure working with all of them, and being in a project that already had so much success.”
In a touching moment, Derek credited his former girlfriend, actress Angelica Panganiban, for helping him cope during that demanding time. “It’s so much hard to do, yung sequel, right? The pressure was pretty intense, but at the time, Angelica [Panganiban] was my girlfriend and she’s a talented actress so she was able to help me,” he shared.
Derek and Angelica were in a relationship for six years before their breakup in 2012. His mention of her struck a chord with fans, many of whom appreciated his sincerity and gratitude.
Now semi-retired, Derek Ramsay remains a respected figure in the entertainment industry, not only for his talent but also for his candidness and humility.
