Aside from Duterte’s arrest, Torre was also one of the key officials in the arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. Following his appointment, PNP chief Nicolas Torre III vowed that the law implementation will be fair under his lead. He also promised that the police will act swiftly. He pushes for the nationwide implementation of his 3-minute police response program.

Recently, PNP chief Nicolas Torre III also spoke about the cases of overweight cops. Based on a report on GMA News, the national police Chief warned that overweight cops who don’t lose weight within a year may be removed from their jobs.

Torre cited the Section 30 of Republic Act No. 6975, also known as the Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990. He stressed that one of the general qualifications for cops is that they “must weigh not more or less than five kilograms of the standard weight corresponding to his or her height” as well as age and gender.

The new PNP Chief stressed that if there is a standard weight and height, the cop’s weight should not exceed five (5) kilos from it. According to him, PNP officers and members who are not within the range will be given six (6) months up to a year to achieve the ideal weight for them.

“After one year, may [there will be] separation from the service,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the case of cops with medical conditions, new PNP chief Nicolas Torre III said they may face “complete disability discharge” or they would be moved to administrative work. Based on the report, Torre said he will talk with the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) over the matter.

Recently, amid the opening of classes in most schools in the country, PNP chief Nicolas Torre III announced that bullying cases in schools may be reported to PNP 911 hotline.
