Flu-Like Symptoms Exhibited by Van Driver Who Drove for Coronavirus Patients in PH
VAN DRIVER – A driver who drove for the Chinese couple who went positive for coronavirus in the Philippines showed flu-like symptoms.
The first case of coronavirus in the Philippines is a Chinese woman aging 38 years old. She and her companion, a 44-year-old Chinese man, flew to PH from Hong Kong but they are from Wuhan City in China.
Wuhan is now under a lock-down. It is due to the outbreak of the coronavirus which has infected nearly 8,000 of its residents. At least 400 people died because of nCoV.
It was last Thusrday when the results of the laboratory test of the Chinese woman arrived. She tested positive making her the 1st case in the country as confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH).
Upon the confirmation, the DOH and several other authorities traced the people that the couple had a contact with. On Sunday, the 44-year-old Chinese man who was also admitted at San Lazaro Hospital together with his partner died.
An update regarding the people that the coronavirus patients had a contact with crossed the surface. Based on Negros Daily Bulletin, the van driver that drove for the Chinese couple shows flu-like symptoms.
Provincial Government Information Officer Bimbo Miraflor expressed that the van driver drove for the couple from Dauin to Dumaguete airport in January 25. Based on the post, the driver of the coronavirus patients is now under observation.
The Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) assessed the driver and he is classified as a person under investigation or PUI. More updates may be posted soon.
