Woman in Viral Makati Sewer Video Now in DSWD Care
MAKATI – The woman seen crawling out of a sewer in Makati is now under the custody of the DSWD for assessment and support.
The woman who captured national attention after emerging from a sewer in Makati City has been placed under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Identified only as “Bibe,” the woman was brought to the DSWD’s Pag-abot Processing Center in Pasay City on Thursday morning, where she is now undergoing a comprehensive assessment.
In a statement, the DSWD confirmed that their outreach team was able to locate and interview Bibe before bringing her in for proper care. “At the processing center, she will undergo a thorough assessment and appropriate intervention by the DSWD, based on her situation and needs,” the agency stated.

The intervention comes following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who instructed the DSWD to ensure that Bibe receives the necessary support so she does not return to living on the streets.
The incident went viral earlier this week after a video posted by social media user RoughMasterpiecei showed Bibe crawling out of a sewer along a busy street. The footage quickly circulated online, with netizens comparing her to “Sadako,” a ghostly character from Japanese horror films, due to her eerie emergence from the canal.
Makati City police reported that the incident occurred at around 4:16 p.m. on Monday near the Makati Medical Center. Authorities believe Bibe is a street dweller, commonly referred to as a “taong grasa,” and was often seen in the area.

Further investigations revealed that Bibe may not have been alone. CCTV footage from the vicinity showed that three individuals entered the drainage system on the same day. Police are now working to identify the other two individuals and determine their reasons for entering the sewer.
As investigations continue, the DSWD has assured the public that Bibe will be provided with the necessary care and support to aid her recovery and reintegration into society.
