Statement of Malacañang on Allegedly Being the Subject of Fake News
Malacañang warned the Filipinos to be wary about “fake news” amid the May 2025 Elections period and called on the people not to be influenced by disinformation.

The Palace assured that the government is fully ready for an orderly and safe elections. The Department of Education (DepEd) is set to deploy its Election Task Force nationwide starting Sunday.

In the upcoming elections, the Marcos administration endorses the candidates of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago. Amid the feud between her and President Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has her own senatorial slate in the upcoming polls including presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos who left the grand alliance.

With the May 2025 Elections drawing near, Malacañang recently warned the Filipinos about the “fake news” and the criticisms targeting the Philippine government. Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro called on the Filipinos to be vigilant and not let the tactic influence their decision on who to vote.
“Unang-una po ay maging mapagmatyag at huwag niyo pong ibenta ang inyong dignidad,” Castro said.

The Malacañang press officer further called on the Filipinos to not be a keyboard warrior who will sell the country through spreading fake news. Based on the report, Castro said that the voters should learn to distinguish between true criticism against the government and fake news.
“Huwag ibenta ang bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagiging keyboard warrior at ang tanging trabaho o goal ay gumawa ng fake news,” the Malacañang Press Officer said.
Atty. Claire Castro further asked the Filipinos to avoid spreading content which has the intention of attacking the government with factual basis. According to her, criticisms against the government are allowed as long as there is an evidence. She stressed that the door is not close to criticism and questions.
Castro reminded the Filipinos that verifying information is the first step to making informed decisions. She called on the Filipinos to fight disinformation to make the best decisions on May 12.
With the 2025 Elections drawing near, senatorial slates are campaigning fervently to reach more voters. Aside from the President, presidential cousin and House Speaker Martin Romualdez also campaign for the Alyansa bets in the upcoming elections.
